FIEA encourages team-based work at all times, combining the efforts of students from the school's three primary disciplines: art, production, and programming. FIEA's first semester focuses on the foundational concepts for each of its tracks and sub-tracks in addition to the exposure and experience of rapid-prototype development of various two-week projects by small student teams.
The second and third semesters at FIEA focus on student-led Capstone Team projects (which is where we are now!) The Capstone cycle comprises of pre-production, production, and post-production phases of game development. As of the time of this writing in late February, our cohort and our team is currently at the end of the pre-production phase and are on the verge of entering the production phase of our projects, so it is an exciting time at FIEA!
The Road Ahead
Look forward to our capstone team's Vertical Slice demo & presentation next week on Tuesday, February 23rd 2021, as well as presentations and demos by the other 3 teams in our cohort. Vertical Slices are a major benchmark and milestone with emphasis on demonstrating and showcasing progress across all components of a project, such as: gameplay, art, and UI.
